The parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul came together on Sunday, August 14, 2005 to thank Fr. Harry Thiel (Txiv Plig Tshaj Sawm) for his ongoing help and support to the twin cities Hmong Catholic Community and to the Hmong Catholics in the world. Fr. Joseph Johnson offered Fr. Harry a sincere thank you and said:

“In the beautiful reality of the Church, we know that even when Fr. Harry is not here physically, whenever we come to pray here at the Church, whenever at Mass in that great prayer of Jesus to the Father in Heaven, there Jesus gathers as at that last supper all his disciples around him.
And so whenever we come to Mass, we are united spiritually to all of those followers of Jesus who come to the holy Eucharist.
So there is not that sadness of being away from one another, because we know that in one very deep meaningful level, we are never apart from one another. Jesus joins all of his followers together in his mystically body, the Church, so dear father, welcome physically present but you are always here in our prayers and our hearts.
And we thank you for all of your labors for so many years on behalf of the Gospel in Thailand amoung the Hmongs and here now in the United States and always welcome here at St Vincent's. As they say "mi casa es su casa" our home is also father's home. So ua tsaug!”

There were also a Khi Tes ceremony preceding the delicious lunch to thank Fr. Harry and to wish him a fast recovery and a healthy future. The women of the Parish prepared a delicious lunch reception for all guests to enjoy.
